Barry Bruce Trainor was born on July 1, 2023 – coinciding with Sabara and Trainor’s seven year anniversary of their initial date. At birth, he weighed 8 pounds 7 ounces and was delivered via cesarean section; according to Trainor he had been in transverse position in his mother’s womb which prevented a natural delivery process from taking place.
Trainor expressed her thanks and appreciation to all the doctors and nurses who took such great care in providing for her and Riley during labor, saying that Barry finally got some skin-to-skin time with them both. In her words: Riley was so gentle, sweet, and absolutely in love with his new best friend.”
Name meaning
Barry is of Irish origin and means “fair-haired” or “spear.” It is also used as a diminutive form of the names Bartholomew or Barnaby. Meanwhile, Bruce comes from Scotland where it means “from the brushwood thicket or willowlands”. Robert the Bruce was associated with this term during his wars of independence against England during the 14th century.
Trainor and Sabara have not publicly explained why they chose Barry or Bruce as names for their son, though some fans speculate it could be a tribute to Trainor’s musician father Gary Trainor who wrote and composed songs with Sabara himself as well as acting director Robert Rodriguez in Spy Kids films.
