Randy Meisner was born on March 8, 1946 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to Herman and Emilie Meisner, who were farmers of Volga German descent. He had an older sister named Carol, who died in 2005.
Randy developed an interest in music at an early age, inspired by Elvis Presley and Sam Cooke. He learned to play the guitar and the bass, and began singing in local bands. He was also a fan of R&B and Motown music.
