Sam McAvane followed in the footsteps of his father by entering the media and production industry. He began his career as a broadcast officer at Tennis Australia in 2013, where he worked for four years until 2017. His responsibilities included providing service to media and players, organizing press conferences, photo opportunities, training sessions management, resource provision and social network reporting for four Australian Open tournaments from 2013 to 2017.
McGuire Media offered him his first opportunity as an assistant producer, where he worked for eight months until December 2015. He assisted with the production for VFL and AFLW coverage on Channel Seven. He then joined Fox Sports as a production assistant in January 2016, where he worked for two years until December 2017. He was involved in the production of various sports programs, such as AFL 360, On The Couch, Bounce, The Back Page and The Rugby Show.
He also worked as a media assistant for the Australian Football League from February 2017 to September 2017. He helped with the media operations for the AFL Women’s competition and the AFL Finals Series. In January 2018, he became an assistant producer at Seven Network, where he is currently working.
