She also appeared on several TV shows such as The Rockford Files, One Day at a Time, The Six Million Dollar Man, The Love Boat and Starsky & Hutch. She also appeared in several movies such as Nothing Personal, Serial Mom, Rusty: A Dog’s Tale and Say It Isn’t So.

Somers also had a successful career as an author, singer, businesswoman and health spokesperson. She wrote more than 25 books on various topics such as diet, fitness, aging, bioidentical hormone therapy and cancer. She also released two albums of pop standards in the late 1970s and early 1980s. She became an entrepreneur with her own line of products such as Thighmaster exercise device, Somersize diet program and Suzanne Organics cosmetics. She also became an advocate for alternative medicine and controversial treatments for cancer and other diseases.
